BE (Civil) Degree

The 4 year Honours Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at UCC is taught by the most highly qualified academic lecturers and professors in Ireland, many with vast international experience.  The course is supplemented with teaching input by several very experienced local and national professional engineers who engage the students with real world engineering problems, such as the structural design of buildings, bridges, flood alleviation works, water and wastewater plants, etc.  In 3rd year the work placement and the Year Abroad option (at a US, Canadian or EU University) adds an international dimension to the UCC civil engineering degree which is unique in Ireland.

Support for Mathematics in First Year

Civil & Environmental Engineers apply mathematical knowledge to solve real-world problems. We have created a special mathematics tutorial programme to help first year students develop their mathematical skills.

In the tutorial programme sympathetic tutors, many of whom are graduates of the Civil Engineering degree, help new first years to develop the skills in mathematics and applied mathematics that will provide a foundation for more advanced Engineering studies in second year and beyond. Our students find this programme hugely helpful in making the transition from school mathematics to University first year mathematics and applied mathematics.

Beyond 4th Year - Postgraduate Options
