BBCEx Collaborates with UCC
MSc Analytical visit BBCEx (Merck, Sharpe and Dohme)
Last Friday the BBCEx (Merck, Sharpe and Dohme) hosted a half day visit from the Master’s in Analytical Chemistry class in UCC. The visit was organised and hosted by Marion Kennefick through her involvement in UCC’s Industry Advisory Board for Chemistry. The group of 24 MSc Analytical Chemistry students and lecturers arrived in Brinny after lunch where they were provided with an overview of the BBCEx and given a background to bioassay’s. This was then followed by a tour of the BBCEx facilities where they met the BBCEx Supervisor, Peter O’Mahony and BBCEx team members, Leigh Quirke and Matthew O’Riordan. This very successful visit was then concluded with an overview of statistical analysis for Bioassay’s which was provided by Suzy Floyd.
Eric Moore, the course co-ordinator, discussed future opportunities for collaboration between the BBCEx, Tyndall National Institute and UCC. James Bennett, a student in UCC’s MSC in Analytical Chemistry will commence his internship in the BBCEx on April 7th.
BBCEx would like to thank Gordon Hayes and Gerry Vaughan for helping with the logistics of this visit.
