EJ Phelan Fellowship in International Law awarded to UCC PhD researcher, Sandra Duffy.

UCC Law PhD student, Sandra Duffy, has been jointly awarded the EJ Phelan Fellowship in International Law.

The fellowship supports a doctoral candidate of proven academic excellence in any area of International Law. Sandra’s research examines the evolving rights of transgender persons in international law and includes a comparative study of gender recognition laws in Ireland, India and Malta. She is working under the supervision of Dr Claire Murray and Professor Siobhán Mullally, and is a member of the Gender, Law and Sexuality (GlaS) research cluster. Sandra was also awarded an Irish Research Council Government of Ireland PhD scholarship to support her doctoral studies! She is currently visiting the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London and busy enjoying their South Asian library resources.
