The seminar is organised in association with the LLM International Human Rights Law and Public Policy.

 

 

Biography

David Joyce is a Barrister at Law and member of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission. Previously David was Legal Officer with Threshold and prior to that was Interim Manager of LEAP (Legal Education for All Project). He also held postions as Co-ordinator of the Offaly Traveller Movement and as Legal Policy Officer with the Irish Traveller Movement (of which he is  a founding member).  David was a member of expert bodies such as the European Roma Rights Centre Budapest, National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism, Bar Council of Ireland, Executive of the Irish Council for Civil Liberties and the National Economic and Social Forum. He graduated from Kings Inns with a Barrister at Law Degree and a Diploma in Legal Studies and from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth with a Diploma in Community Development and Youth. In 2005 he received an Irish Person of the Year Award for his work and dedication to the human rights of Travellers.
