Professor Ashworth will discuss recent developments in the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights, with particular reference to the privilege against self-incrimination and the concept of inhuman and degrading treatment. Professor Ashworth will argue that these recent developments threaten to undermine the protection of human rights in domestic legal systems.
