In a year of Brexit, migration and global challenges, it is worth looking at the history of Irish women in an international context.
Panels highlight the international nature of Irish women’s lives from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century. The keynotes reflect the international theme of the conference. On Friday, Professor Louisa Passerini, PI of the recent ERC-funded Bodies Across Borders: Oral and Visual Memory in Europe and Beyond (BABE)will discuss ‘Women Across European Borders: Visual Memory and Intersubjectivity’. While on Saturday, former WHAI president, Dr Jennifer Redmond will discuss her book Moving Histories: Irish Women’s Emigration to Britain from Independence to Republic.Redmond was invited to present her book to President Higgins on International Women’s Day 2019.
