Dr Gabriel Lins De Holanda Coelho

I have been working in academia since my first year as an undergraduate in Psychology, where I had my initial contact with the multidisciplinarity that makes it so fascinating. Since then, I have worked with researchers from different fields (e.g., environmental, cross-cultural, health, neuroscience) and countries (e.g., Germany, New Zealand, England, USA), which helped to develop my curiosity for embracing new knowledge within psychology and related areas. I currently hold a Ph.D. in Social Psychology (Cardiff University), and I am extremely committed and motivated to help developing high quality research and an environment of continuous learning here at University College Cork.

UCC Research Activities

I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the School of Applied Psychology (UCC). I am working with Dr. Audrey DunnGalvin in the Food Allergy Coping and Emotions Scales (FACES) project, funded through the National Children’s Research Centre. In this project, we aim to develop five age appropriate (e.g., children, adults) cross-culturally (e.g., Ireland, Russia, the United States, Brazil, Italy) invariant scales, besides their relations to health related constructs. Understanding the key emotional and coping factors that result from growing up with food allergies may guide individualized patient management strategies and ultimately improve patient outcomes in terms of safety and well-being.
