Puttnam Scholarship (Academic) 2019/20

University College Cork is pleased to announce the Puttnam Scholarship Programme. Under the programme six Puttnam Scholars will be awarded to registered final year undergraduate/level 8 students or postgraduate level 9 students in 2019/20. Lord Puttnam, Oscar winning producer of films including Chariots of Fire, The Mission, The Killing Fields and Midnight Express, former Digital Champion (appointed by Irish Government): educational advisor to the UK and entrepreneur in the creative industries initiated this unique mentoring scheme offering prestigious scholarships which represent a new model of industry/sector mentorship.

The selected students will become Puttnam Scholars for a period of one academic year. During the year the Puttnam Scholars will work together on a team project and will be required to attend a series of 6 video conference mentoring and coaching sessions with Lord Puttnam. Puttnam Scholars and will jointly produce a short film which they will screen as part of a presentation to Lord Puttnam and invited guests at the end of the academic year.

Students awarded a Puttnam Scholarship will:

  • Receive a monetary award of €1500 on completion of the scholarship
  • Engage in coaching/mentoring with a multi-award winning film producer, highly experienced entrepreneur and creative manager
  • Have an opportunity to develop and enhance their skills in team working, collaboration, negotiating and networking
  • Have a competitive advantage through the inclusion of their ‘Puttnam Scholar’ experience on their curriculum vitae, and through the opportunities this has afforded them beyond their curriculum.


The scholarship is only open to final year undergraduate and level 9 postgraduate students.


How do I apply?
To apply for a Puttnam Scholarship you must:

  • Be either a registered UCC student, on an undergraduate/level 8 programme (final year) or postgraduate level 9 at University College Cork in 2019/20

  • Complete the Puttnam Scholarship Programme Application Form online using the 'Apply now' option below.
