College Road closed in 3 Phases for Re-Surfacing Works

Cork City Council’s College Road refurbishment scheme is taking a huge step towards being finalised:

As City Council and the contractor have advised, College Road will be re-surfaced and new tarmac laid starting from Monday, 21st April. Works shall be finished by the end of May.

Before starting works on College Road, Gaol Walk will be open for traffic again by Monday, 21st April, and the car park at the back of the Science Building will be accessible again.

College Road shall be closed to all vehicular traffic on a phased basis :

Mon 21st Apr – Fri 2nd May (latest):

Closure between Perrott Avenue (excl. junction) and Main Campus Entrance

Access to the Main Entrance will be maintained from the Gaol Walk / Highfield Av side and College Road will be operating two-way between there and the Main Entrance.

Access to Perrott Avenue visitors' car park will be maintained from College Road (east) / Donovan’s Road.

During this time, UCC Park+Ride shuttles will ONLY stop at and leave from a temporary bus stop in Connaught Avenue (at Donovan’s Road, opposite the Honan Chapel). No set-down at Dennehy’s Cross will be possible.
Bus shuttle schedules will be as usual.

Fri 2nd May (latest) – Sun 11th May:

Closure between Main Campus Entrance and Gaol Walk / Highfield Av.

Access to the Main Campus Entrance will be possible from College Road (east) as usual, egress will be to the East (left turn) ONLY. Therefore College Road will be operating two-way between the Main Entrance and Donovan’s Road (and thereafter).

Traffic between Gaol Walk, Highfield Avenue and College Road (west) will be maintained.  

Mon 12th May – Sun 25th May

Closure between Gaol Walk / Highfield Av and Bon Secours Hospital

Traffic between College Road (east), Gaol Walk and Highfield Avenue will be maintained. Access to Food Science car park will be restricted. - Further information to follow.

Pedestrian traffic alongside the works will not be affected at all times. For crossing the closed sections, a number of defined crossing points are requested.
