UCC Open Days
Open days are run by the University in the Autumn and Spring and are attended by approximately 7,000 potential students, representing more than 100 secondary schools.
The School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology staff are highly involved in these student recruitment opportunities. Dr Sinéad Kerins oversees the Biochemistry and Biomedical Science stands and staff from the School are on hand to answer queries relating to the Biochemistry and Biomedical Science degree outlets. Professor David Sheehan and Dr Kerins give presentations, providing prospective students with further information on the Biochemistry and Biomedical Science degree programmes, respectively.
Biochemistry graduates, provide tours of the undergraduate teaching laboratories in the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology and demonstrate various Molecular Biology techniques to the students. The students also received hands on experience in performing Molecular Biology techniques and the opportunity to talk to Biochemistry graduates about the courses run by the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology.
