Bianca Govi

I graduated from the BEES Applied Plant Biology BSc in 2018.

I then undertook a Master of Research in Environmental science, working on a plant biology & microbiology interdisciplinary project with Prof. Marcel Jansen and Dr Niall O’Leary.

My current PhD project, supervised by Marcel Jansen, investigates the responses of plants to ultraviolet radiation. In my project I hope to address microscale leaf plasticity and seek to link form and function of acclimatisation responses. Experiments addressing metabolomic kinetics, pest interactions, and drought-UV interactions are also planned.

More information, as well as researcher’s blogs, can be found at the project’s website.

Research Interests

Plant ecophysiology and plants’ interactions with other biotic entities, especially microbial and invertebrate. I am interest in understanding evolutionary adaptation, and how better understanding plants’ own survival strategies can help us improve sustainability of agricultural production systems.

 MRes thesis:

“Diversity and Function of Phytosphere Microbiota of L. minor plants from a Dairy Processing Wastewater Treatment Facility”
