Biography
Dr Tom Doyle is a Lecturer in Zoology in the School of Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences at UCC. Tom is a marine biologist with expertise in gelatinous zooplankton ecology and animal biotelemetry.
Research Interests
Gelatinous zooplankton ecology: socio-economic impacts of jellyfish (e.g. aquaculture and fisheries interactions), jellyfish associated pathophysiology (inc. First Aid for treatment of jellyfish stings) and diet and trophic interactions of jellyfish.
Animal biotelemetry: deployment of satellite tags, data loggers and acoustic tracking devices on various species (seabass, blue sharks and leatherback turtles) to determine animal movements, migration patterns and behaviour.
Marine litter: abundance, distribution and sources of marine litter, ingestion and food web transfer of microplastics.
