Environmental Science Research
Staff across the School of BEES (and in the wider University) contribute to Environmental Science teaching and research at UCC. The discipline is led by Dr Debbie Chapman.
One of the recent significant achievements for Environmental Science at BEES has been the negotiating and securing co-operation between the Irish Government and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to establish a UNEP Centre for global water quality monitoring in BEES - GEMS Water CDC.
The influence of staff at a national and international level is significant with collaborations worldwide. The establishment of the UNEP Centre training professionals globally in best practice in water quality monitoring and assessment, and contributing to the monitoring of the water-related sustainable development goals post-2015 in co-operation with UN Water is an important milestone for Environmental Science.
