Transition Year Programme

The School of BEES Transition Year Programme gives secondary school students the chance to discover science at UCC in a structured way.

The students get the opportunity to study and work alongside BEES staff and students for a week and get a feel for areas like Plant Science, Zoology, Environmental Science and Geology. The week also sees the students visiting the Eureka Centre, the Boole Library and getting a guided tour of the UCC campus.

Speaking about the programme, Dr Tom Quirke (co-ordinator) said: "It aims to deliver a comprehensive experience of working in the area of Zoology, Ecology, Geology, Plant Science and Environmental Science through a series of lectures and practicals. It also offers the students a chance to participate in various degree courses and avail of the facilities in UCC. We hope the students enjoy their time here and benefit from the different activities, ultimately assisting them in choosing their future careers!”
