Prof. John Gamble Honoured

Prof. John Gamble of the School of BEES was recently honoured by the Geological Society for his significant contribution to the field.
Prof. Gamble is pictured after receiving the VMSG Award for 2012 with (left) Professor Jon Davidson, Dept of Earth Sciences, University of Durham, President of the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain and Ireland, and Dr David Pyle, Department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford, Chair of the Volcanic and Magmatic Studies Group, The Geological Society.
The award is in recognition of his work on arc magmatism, his dedication to volcanic and magmatic studies and his support of early career researchers.
The VMSG Award is bestowed annually by the Volcanic and Magmatic Studies Group of the Geological Society, (London), on an individual who has made a significant contribution to the understanding of magmatic processes.
The citation stated that the award was: “specifically in recognition of your work on arc magmatism, your dedication to VMSG and support of early career researchers”.
