Dr Jerome de Groot
Dr. de Groot teaches English in the School of Arts, Histories and Cultures at the University of Manchester. His research interests are the 1640s, contemporary popular history, and the historical novel. Recent book publications by Dr de Groot include The Historical Novel (The New Critical Idiom, Routledge, 2009),Consuming History (Routledge, 2008), and Royalist Identites (Palgrave, 2004). Dr de Groot, in addition to writing for The Guardian, also chairs the board of trustees of the Manchester Literature Festival. Dr Geoffrey Cubitt
Dr Cubitt is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of History, and a member of the Centre for Eighteenth-Century Studies. His research interests lie partly in the political, intellectual, religious and cultural history of nineteenth-century France, and partly in issues of social memory and in the political, social and cultural aspects of relationships to the past in modern societies more generally. Recent publications by Dr Cubitt include Imagining Nations (Manchester University Press, 1998), Heroic Reputations and Exemplary Lives (Manchester University Press, 2000), and History and Memory (Manchester University Press, 2007).
