Classroom AV equipment and connections
Classrooms have all or a mix of the following AV equipment.
Go to our Classroom AV info page for a table of which rooms have which equipment.
- A Projector or Display (TV)
- PC
- Laptop VGA connection
- Laptop HDMI connection
- Public Address Sytem (PA) and Audio Amplifiers
- Disc Player
- Document Camera
- Overhead Projector
- Camera Recording System (For Lecture Capture and VideoConferencing)
Controlling a Projector or Display (Large TV)

Centrally booked classrooms have Extron switchers which facilite toggling between inputs to the Projector screen or Display screen (Large TV). This allows the user to switch inputs between the VGA or HDMI Laptop connection, adjust the volume and switch on and off the projector. Extron Controller Room Instructions |
Using your own laptop in a classroom
If you want to use your own laptop in a classroom, you need to connect it to the projection system via a VGA or HDMI cable.
Currently all classrooms have a VGA connection and a HDMI connection.
Please check in advance which rooms have HDMI connectivity on our Classroom Information page.
For Laptops, please bring an adapter that will connect to HDMI or VGA.
Users are responsible for their own cables and adapters. AVMS doesn't supply adapters.
Wireless projection of tablets and other devices
Mirroring 360 software is available on most AV PCs in centraly booked teaching rooms. This enables displaying of content from tablets, phones and laptops wirelessly. Instructions for use are available on our Wireless Mirroring page.
