UCC Confucius Institute

The UCC Confucius Institute is offering a wide range of Chinese language courses, beginning in May, 2018.

Beginners Course

This course provides students with basic skills in Chinese language including speaking, listening, reading and writing. By the end of the course, students will have acquired a vocabulary of around 100 Chinese characters which will enable them to read and write and have simple conversations in Mandarin. Complete beginners or those with some knowledge of Chinese welcome.    

Intermediate Course

This course aimed at applicants with HSK2 or an equivalent level. It provides students with skills in Chinese language including speaking, listening, reading and writing. By the end of the course, students will have acquired a vocabulary of around 450 Chinese characters which will enable them to read and write and have simple conversations that relate to common daily settings in Mandarin.

Advanced Course

This course aimed at applicants with HSK3 or an equivalent level. It provides students with skills in Chinese language including speaking, listening, reading and writing. By the end of the course, students can understand and learn language relates to daily settings, and can an use more complex grammatical structures and sentence patterns to communicate on familiar topics through interaction and description.

One-on-one Course

We also offer some private courses. These courses are scheduled by the hour and lessons can be tailor-made to a student’s specific interest and needs. And teachers can assess their student’s learning requirements and will adapt the teaching methods to their learning style and pace. Students will be charged by the hour from €25- €35 according to their level and the venue is to be advised once the course fixed.

Start date: 14th May, 2018  (for 10 times)

Time:   6.00 p.m. - 8.00 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from 15th May

Venue:   To be advised at a later date

Cost:      €180 for external applicants; €160 UCC staff/registered student

To ensure the learning outcomes, we only accept a maximum of 16 applicants for each course. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Deadline for applications is 11th May, 2018.
