Apprentice and Employer Grants or Bursaries
Apprenticeship Employer Grant:
What is the Apprenticeship Employer Grant?
The Apprenticeship Employer Grant is a grant payable to employers who employ apprentices. Employers of apprentices in social work are eligible to apply for the Apprenticeship Employer Grant for each apprentice they employ.
Key Features:
- €2,000 per year per apprentice
- Two instalments of €1,000 each payable in May and November each year

Gender Based Bursary
What is the gender-based bursary?
The gender-based bursary is available to employers who employ apprentices on any national apprenticeship programme with greater than 80% representation of a single gender.
Key Features:
- Employers who employ apprentices on any national apprenticeship programme with greater than 80% representation of a single gender can apply.
- Payment of €2666 for each registered apprentice from the minority gender. €1,333 is payable following completion of 6 months training by the apprentice(s). The second payment of €1,333 is payable following completion of 18 months training by the apprentice(s).

Traveller Apprenticeship Incentivisation Programme (TAIP)
What is the Traveller Apprenticeship Incentivisation Programme (TAIP)?
The Government has introduced a Traveller Apprenticeship Incentivisation Programme which offers bursaries to apprentices from the Traveller community.
The Traveller Apprenticeship Incentivisation Programme has grants available to Travellers enrolled in a SOLAS approved apprenticeship, preapprenticeship and access to apprenticeship. They are designed to support Travellers and employers in purchasing equipment, paying for courses and college fees, transportation, and other related expenses.
Key Features:
- €3,000 bursary each for 25 Travellers who are employed as new apprentices and €2,000 incentive payment each for their employers.
- €3,000 bursary each for 25 existing Traveller apprentices.
- €3,000 bursary each for 25 Travellers to access pre-apprenticeship and Access to Apprenticeship programmes.
