Leaving Certificate entry requirements: 

At Least six subjects must be presented. Minimum grade requirement of 2*H5 and 4*O6/H7.

The following are considered Lab Science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physics with Chemistry or Agricultural Science.

Mature students:  Applicants should apply directly to the CAO, include a statement of interest and may be called for interview. Applicants must have studied a Laboratory Science subject at second-level or QQI/FETAC level or demonstrate involvement in Science related areas. Approximately eight places are available on this course for mature students. Please refer to the mature student entry requirements for details.

Non-EU Candidates

Non-EU candidates are expected to have educational qualifications of a standard equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate. In addition, where such candidates are non-native speakers of the English language they must satisfy the university of their competency in the English language.

Fees and Costs

The State will pay the tuition fees for students who satisfy the Free Fees Criteria. In 2017/18 the Student Contribution Charge was €3,000 and the Capitation Fee was €165. Full-time EU/EEA/Swiss State undergraduate students may be exempt from paying tuition fees.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements: HC3 in two subjects and passes in four other subjects at H or O level in the Leaving Certificate from Irish, English, Mathematics, one Laboratory Science subject (i.e. Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Physics with Chemistry (joint) or Agricultural Science) and two other subjects recognised for entry purposes. At least a HC3 must be obtained in the Laboratory Science subject or Mathematics or Applied Mathematics

• Mature applicants should apply directly through the CAO and may be required to attend for interview. Applicants are assessed on the basis of academic and/or professional background in a science-related discipline, evidenced by exam results and their personal statement. There are seven places in CK402 for Mature Students.
