Dr Siobhain O'Mahony celebrates International Women's Day 2023 with APC Microbiome Ireland, UCC Innovation and the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience
Dr Siobhain O'Mahony, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience celebrated International Women's Day at three events! On video with her APC colleagues and UCC Innovation and with over 45 female staff in the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience.
As well as a Senior Lecturer, and Director of the BSc Neuroscience in the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience Siobhain is a Funded Investigator in APC Microbiome Ireland, her main research areas assess outcomes of adverse events during pregnancy and early life. She works in areas of women’s health such as investigating the impact of stress during pregnancy on maternal gut health as well as women-specific disorders such as endometriosis.
Siobhain is also interested in gender-related differences in the gut microbiome and how this may play a role in stress-related disorders and pain perception. Her research group is based in the APC Microbiome Ireland (Funded Investigator) and the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience in the Biosciences Institute and the Western Gateway Building. Dr O'Mahony has recently welcomed Postdoctoral research student Maria Rosaria Guozzo to her research team.

Siobhain also celebrated International Women's Day 2023 with her colleagues in the Department of Anatomy and Neurosicence at their photo event to celebrate the day.
