An annual UCC Fónathon campaign was launched in 2015 to improve alumni engagement and engender a culture of giving.
We would like to form lifelong relationships with our alumni and ensure that you are aware of developments in UCC.
For the first time, a team of current UCC students was selected to telephone UCC alumni to engage directly with the alumni community, get updates from them, and listen to their views and opinions on their alma mater. Students had over 1,000 conversations with alumni, learning a lot about the past and sharing experiences of the present.
Alumni received an insight into what life is like for students at the University today. Alumni were also asked if they were interested in supporting the Alumni Fund and many gave generously. UCC has a student body of over 20,000 to support and the help received already from many alumni is very welcome. Some of the money raised last year has already been put towards a project for the Student Health Doctors and Consultant Psychiatrist, Student Counselling & Development, and the Disability Support Service so that even better support can be given to students.
The 2016 Fónathon was a huge success with 820 alumni being contacted between 14 October and 6 November, 2016.
The majority of those spoken to highly enjoyed their conversations and many stories were relayed about UCC both past and present. The callers enjoyed learning about the history of the University as well as gaining a huge amount from the life experience our alumni have to offer. If you spoke to our student callers we thank you most sincerely for your time and consideration.
During the 2016 Fónathon many kind donations were pledged by alumni. You can find out more about the Alumni Fund by visiting the link below.
