Course/subjects studied in UCC and year of graduation
I graduated in 2012 with a BSc Finance degree which is surprising to all who know me now!
Best memory of University College Cork
Having lived in the UK since I graduated from UCC, I think the luxury of being so close to home while studying. It allowed me to have fun with my school friends and make new friends too over the four years while enjoying home comforts!
How has your time at UCC helped you to get to where you are now?
I was Auditor of the UCC Accounting & Finance Society in my final year of Finance which kick-started my love of the events world. I decided to study Finance as I loved business and accounting at school but I knew it wouldn’t be my long-term career. I hadn’t been majorly involved in any society or club but felt that having input over our final year ball was important – I learned a lot through the chaos of organising my first event. I studied a Masters in Marketing and Events in Edinburgh after UCC but I think the Finance degree is what gets me noticed on CVs. Managing budgets is also integral to the events industry!
What is your advice to current UCC students?
Get involved in radio, societies, clubs and volunteering. With the opportunities you have in UCC, it’s the best time to explore what your passion is.
What person/people at UCC had the most positive influence on you?
As Finance is a small class, the girls in my year were and still are extremely close. They were hugely motivating in my studies and group work. I’m now the odd one out as they continue on their successful financial careers.
Were you involved in any Clubs or Societies?
The auditor of the Finance and Accounting Society in final year and I attended the Ball of just about every other one.
Favourite UCC legend or superstition
I like to believe it is an Irish Hogwarts..
