Eucen Conference 2024

Our world is complex and uncertain. While we deal with numerous global challenges today, we are not even aware of the new challenges and risks on the horizon for tomorrow. University lifelong learning has a significant role to play in equipping people with resilience and agility so that they can cope with and thrive in times of change. The challenge for universities is doing this in a way that ensures no one is left behind.

Through EUCEN 2024, we want to encourage colleagues to reflect on this challenge and to share existing good practice and innovation in the sector. With a tripartite focus on learners, the university, and society, we hope to showcase the significant impact of ULLL in leading positive change and inspire colleagues from across Europe to embrace UNESCO’s message of leaving no one behind. Contributions addressing the following themes are welcome from researchers, practitioners, and all types of LLL professionals.

Thematic Area 1:
ULLL as a vehicle for empowering learners to succeed in a complex and uncertain world
Thematic Area 2:
Institutions of lifelong learning? The challenge in adapting the university to the new reality
Thematic Area 3:
Exploring the reach of ULLL beyond the university. A focus on partnership-building and case studies of good practice

A more detailed call for contributions will issue in autumn 2023. Abstracts of not be more than 500 words should be submitted by Friday March 1st 2024.

Please note that the eucen 2024 conference will form part of the Global Lifelong Learning Week hosted by the ASEM Lifelong Learning Hub in Cork from Monday 27th – Friday 31st May 2024. Eucen delegates are welcome to attend events all week.
