HEAR Orientation
What is the PLUS Programme?
HEAR eligible students become PLUS Programme students when they join UCC in their first year.
The PLUS Programme provides a vast range of academic, financial and social support, enabling HEAR Scheme students to participate fully in student life and reach their full potential.
What is HEAR orientation?
All incoming PLUS programme first-year students will need to complete the HEAR orientation programme at University College Cork.
At the HEAR orientation, you will be provided with a solid understanding of the support you will receive for the duration of your degree and cover all aspects of becoming a UCC student.
What should I have done before orientation?
Once you get your CAO course offer, it's really important to:
- Accept your CAO offer of a UCC course on www.cao.ie
- You will receive an email from the Access UCC department after your CAO offer, follow the instructions to confirm your attendance at the HEAR Orientation.
- Please visit the Accommodation Office Website if you need Accommodation advice for living arrangements for the academic year.
What is the difference between HEAR Orientation and Main College Orientation?
At the HEAR orientation, you will be provided with a solid understanding of the support you will receive for the duration of your degree from the PLUS Programme and allow you an opportunity to ask any questions specific to the HEAR Scheme.
Main College orientation is designed to welcome you to UCC and introduce you to university life. This is the day you will also collect your Student ID Card. Please follow this link for the exact dates related to your course.
Both orientation days are compulsory and are an essential part of your journey to becoming a UCC student.
Where do I find the PLUS Programme?
The PLUS Programme can be found on the 1st floor, The Hub Building, UCC Main Campus, College Road, Cork, UCC.
Please get in touch with hear@ucc.ie with your full name, surname and CAO number if you have any queries and we will get back to you within 1-2 working days during regular daytime office hours.
