Patrick Fitzpatrick holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Surrey, a PGCE from Sussex University, and a PhD from the Australian National University. He spent 35 years in UCC as Lecturer/Professor in Mathematics, publishing extensively in the fields of algebra and coding theory, as well as engaging in numerous academic leadership roles. Between 2005 and 2013, he was Dean of Science and founding Head of College of Science, Engineering and Food Science, leading in the establishment of the College structure, with devolved responsibility for finance, human and physical resources, and strategic planning through two 5-year cycles. In 2010, he established the UCC Centre for Global Development, and in 2015, he played a pivotal role in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of George Boole. He also led a number of external projects including Energy Cork and the UCC-Teagasc Alliance.
Having joined UCC Academy in 2014, Patrick’s current role includes acting as Head of PrimeUCC, and as Head of Business Development.
