UCC Project Centre at the Project Managers Network event, Dublin Castle

4 Oct 2019

On 3 September 2019, Sinéad Harding, Head of UCC Project Centre, was invited to speak at the Project Managers Network event at the Printworks, Dublin Castle.

The Project Managers Network had just expanded from the Civil Service to include Public Service project managers. Sinéad and her team joined project managers from all areas of the Public Service, including the Irish Defence Forces, the Office of Public Works and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform to share expertise.

The Project Managers Network was established to support the implementation of project management practices in the Public Service, an initiative outlined in Our Public Service 2020 under Action 10. Sinéad was asked to speak on the establishment and growth of the UCC Project Centre over the past three years of her tenure at UCC. She shared her experience of setting up a project management office in the Public Service and the key drivers that shaped the UCC Project Centre vision and mission.

Delegates from the Civil Service and various Public Service departments were interested in the frameworks, methodologies and processes that the UCC Project Centre works to, noting the highly customisable approach to working within the University. The event offered us the opportunity to foster connections with project management professionals across the Public Service. UCC Project Centre is actively collaborating with colleagues across the Public Service, supporting the implementation of Action 10.
