30 Jun 2022

UCC Academy welcomed three new members of staff in recent months, all of whom will bring their extensive range of talents and skills to bear as the academy continues to develop.

Donna O’Regan has amassed a wealth of experience in project management, working for UN and international humanitarian agencies and NGOs in Iraq, Laos, Myanmar, Sierra Leone and India. When living in Myanmar, she was an Operations Co-ordinator for Humanity & Inclusion, advocating for those affected by landmines and supporting people living with disabilities in the community.

Donna returned to her alma mater in May, joining UCC Academy. With a growing focus on sustainability and the challenge of climate change, Donna’s experience in development and emergency contexts will be invaluable in her role as a project officer. She is working with the School of Law on attracting more international students and is also supporting the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy on “P4Play” the first European joint doctoral programme in that area. The EU-funded project explores access to play, especially in marginalised communities.

Donna holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from UCC, as well as a master’s degree in Development Studies from UCD.

Elaine Harrington joined UCC Academy in March of this year as a communications project officer at Ireland South Women and Infants Directorate, a network of maternity hospitals including Cork University Maternity Hospital and the maternity units of University Hospital Kerry, University Hospital Waterford and Tipperary University Hospital.

Elaine has worked in Ireland, the UK and Australia, and previously held roles at EMC, Fastnet Recruitment and De Beers Group in London, where she was a communications specialist and brand manager.

She has a degree in marketing from CIT. Elaine’s extensive experience is being used to its fullest in her busy and exciting role providing internal and external communications support to the leadership team at CUMH and beyond.

Mirjana Radakovic came on board with the finance team at UCC Academy in May.  Hers is a busy and varied position, encompassing payroll, taxation, financial reporting and management accounting.

Mirjana holds a range of qualifications in her field, including a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia and an advanced diploma in Accounting and Business from ACCA. She is also studying chartered accountancy.

Mirjana has had a range of roles in the area of management accounting and financial accounting in multinational corporations such as KPMG and Bunzl PLC. She also has experience in purchasing and sales and this variety has given her a head start in dealing with the many interesting facets of her new role at UCC Academy.
