Project Governance Event

6 Mar 2019

On March 6th, the Community of Project Managers (CoPM) held an event in the Boole Library Creative Zone on the topic of Project Governance. Project Governance is the framework by which project decisions are made. It is a critical element of any successful project, as it ensures that there is appropriate accountability and responsibility within the project team. We were delighted to be joined by some of UCC’s leaders in project governance, who shared their experiences of best practice governance frameworks and examples.

Sinead Harding, Head of the UCC Project Centre, presented us with frameworks for governance success and methodologies of achieving best practice governance. Noelle Barry, Senior PM with the UCC Project Centre, presented her framework for governance within the UCC IT PMO and Michelle Cronin presented us with her governance framework for managing the new Dental School and Hospital build.

We held a panel discussion with Ger Culley, Sally Cudmore, Mark Poland and Sinead Harding where members of the community had the opportunity to ask questions that related to their projects. The panelists were incredibly succinct and key learnings from the day were taken away and applied within the Community.

Our next event will be held in May, and we are looking forward to seeing you all there.
