The Academic Secretariat has responsibility for co-ordinating the academic business of the University. In that regard it is responsible for the:
- Primary point of contact for internal and external queries relating to the responsibilities of the Senior Vice-President and Registrar and the Academic Secretary
- Provision of secretariat services to Academic Council and its committees
- Development and implementation of systems and procedures to support the effective discharge of the University’s academic governance arrangements
- Co-ordination of submissions in response to national initiatives
- Facilitating the transaction of academic business between Colleges, Academic Council, Governing Body and National University of Ireland (NUI) Senate
- Engages with the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and other external bodies on academic issues
- External Examiner (taught programmes) administration
