Have your Say
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to UCC Young Fine Gael’s new and improved website (much thanks to Rob and Jamie) and more importantly to a new year at UCC.
The past 12 months has been an extremely successful one for Fine Gael with the local elections being the perfect demonstration of this. We gained an impressive 47 seats and now have a total of 340 local authority seats, 122 seats more than Fianna Fáil. Unfortunately, the country’s success has not mirrored that of Fine Gael’s. Unemployment has a risen to an all time high of 440,000 and with that, satisfaction with the Government has fallen to 17%. It is now common knowledge that the Government are incapable of managing the crisis that they have created. It seems a change of government is inevitable and there has never been a better time to get involved with Fine Gael.
Not only has the past year been successful for Fine Gael, on a more personal level, it has also been a thriving year for UCC YFG. We are now recruiting more numbers than ever but more significant is the amount of dedicated and active members we possess. The work done this past year did not go unnoticed as we secured the award for the Best Political Society and never was an award more deserved. I would like to thank last year’s committee again for the great year we got to experience due to their efforts.
However, I can promise you this year will be just as lucrative. After working with the newly elected senior committee all summer, I can honestly say there has never been a more dedicated and friendly group of people. Our aim as a committee is quite simple: we want to get as many people as possible involved in Young Fine Gael and we want to make sure we all have a fantastic time doing it!
So whether you are a fresher, a final year student or even a former Fianna Fáil member who has at last seen the light, come and get involved. You will not regret it.
I look forward to meeting you,
Michelle
