Older Mathsoc Committee's
2006-2007
Auditor - Hannah Daly
Maths and Applied Maths, Third Year
Hannah is proud to be the only palindromic female auditor of the Mathsoc. That certainly didn't stop her from giving us orders though. After a stressful year as auditor, Hannah is taking a year out and studying in Santa Cruz.
Vice Auditor - James Neill
Applied Maths and Physics, Second Year
The faithful sidekick behind the auditor that doesn't really do anything but learn (or at least pretend to learn) the ropes. Then again, the work load will pile on for James next year when he takes the position of Auditor.
Treasurer - Danny Lynch
Maths and Physics, Third Year
The Mathsoc accounts have not generally been known for their .... balancing. However this year, Danny managed to turn a tidy profit, thanks to some lucrative sponsorship deals. Additionally, it might have been handy that the Treasurer of the Guild did Maths!!
Social Secretary - Eoin Hyde
Maths and Applied Maths, Third Year
Eoins a person who likes his fun. The perfect guy to be social secretary. Not surprisingly the mystery tour turned out to be close to his home, Macroom. He also wanted to hold the Maths/Physics Ball out there too, but both committees said no.
PRO - Richard Terry
Maths and History, Third Year
Richard is the guy who reinvented the Mathsoc appearance. White on Black!! He also made a really snazzy banner that he keeps in his room. Also he relabeled his job as 'Artistic Designer' and then took the job himself for the coming year.
Secretary - Ashing Dolan
Maths and Philosophy, Third Year
Not just from Cavan, Ash took the notes and minutes of all our committee meetings. We all do wonder what happened to those notes. We certainly never saw them again.
Competitions - Stephen Casey
Maths and Physics, Third Year
What a better man for the job seeing as Stephen seems to win all the competitions. We think he somehow fixes them but we haven't been able to figure out his secret yet. Has anyone noticed that Stephen and Santa Claus (see Maths/Physics Ball) have never been in the same room together. Hmmmm.
Bookings - Stephen McCarthy
Applied Maths and Physics, Second Year
Stephen is that second year who comes to events when there was drink involved. He also did some bookings for the society. His notepad was the palm of his hand. Oh and just so you know that was not a metaphor.
Webmistress - Samantha Lam
Maths and Applied Maths, Forth Year
Sammi has been the backbone of this website for the last few year. Having finally got a paid trip to Nebraska out of the Mathsoc she has passed the duty of managing the website on. And then she moves off to Edinburgh.
Postgrad Rep - Seamus O'Ceallaigh
BSc in Maths and Applied Maths, Masters
Sham is like the grand-daddy of the Mathsoc, he has been here so long. He is however leaving UCC this year for a real job.. or so he tells us. "College - The best seven years of your life".
1st Year Rep - Sarah Jane Leahy
Arts, First Year
This 1st year rep is known throughout college as the lollypop girl. Sarah-jane really is the girl that you meet in the corner for some lollypops. She brings them everywhere ....really.
1st Year Rep - Steve O'Sullivan
Mathematical Sciences, First Year
Being our second first year rep, steve does what steve does best.
OCM - Tara Hennessy
Maths and Physics, Third Year
Tara was one of our OCM's for the year. This meant she had lots of those little jobs that we didn't want to do. Fair play Tara.
OCM - Brendan Cahill
Applied Maths and Physics, Third Year
Brendan is our second OCM for the year. Sometimes takes jobs a bit too seriously, but always gets the job done.
Ex Officio - Danny Gleeson
Maths and Physics, Forth Year
Having been the auditor or the previous mathsoc committee, Danny took some well-earned rest, and let the rest of us do the work for the year. He just had the title. What a sweet job!! That must be why he is happy.
