Welcome to our website!
The English Literarature Society is a group for all those interested and exited by literature - readers and writers alike. Our normal meetings take place every Thursday evening just off of the main quadrangle, a fitting location considering its appearance in James Joyce's novel A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man:
"Along the Mardyke the trees were in bloom. They entered the grounds of the college and were led by the garrulous porter across the quadrangle..."
At our meetings you can read from and discuss your favourite books, be they novels, plays, short stories or poetry. The informal friendly atmosphere of the Society is also the perfect place to share your personal creative writing. The meetings begin at 7pm in West Wing (every Thursday), and we usually head to a public house for some socializing afterwards.
The Society also organizes a writer's workshop every Monday night. This is a chance for you to share your compisitions with other writers, and recieve advise about your work. The workshops are held in O'Rahilly Building room G30 at 7:30pm.
You can turn up anytime at all!
