Tom oh Tom you are in trouble tonight .The place shall be wrecked .About ropework in the Reeks it's a fine idea but if you are going up Howling,Pippets,or Hags Tooth leave the rope at home i.e. possibility of dragging half the mountain down on top of yourself. Why not go up Primroses a nicer dryer safer cleaner alternative with no loose rock whatsoever. How about it Diarmaid?Forget your Kite it's primroses for you this weekend .See you all at Toms and don't forget my favourite piece of gear Brian P.S. We are red we are white we are fucking dynamite. Come on the Rebellllllllllllls.
Cork 0-23 Tipperary 3-12 Jerry, what was that you were saying about a weak Cork team? Up the Rebels!
This is probably being posted too late to be of any use to anyone, but I'll stop at Gaol Cross at about 7.45 this evening on my way to the barbeque, so if anyone wants a lift be there. I am also willing to make extra trips if necessary, so if anyone is stuck ring the O' Connor residence (the number is somewhere further up the page) and I will come back again. See you all tonight.
Hi folks, just a quick note from saas fee in the swiss alps. All is well though the keyboard is wierd!! We've managed to climb two mountains(!!!) and just met TTR, DC, Colm and Meredith today - the weather is Hot, Hot, Hot and a well-deserved rest is now being taken with more climbing planned for Monday. See you in a few weeks, enjoy the NACC activities in the meantime!!
I'm back! But only barely. Rob, if Jenny calls get her to tell Conor to check his tickets. British Airways tore off my Heathrow->Cork tickets on the way out on the 14th and I had to do some fast talking to get home. I see the search for a club bar continues. Assuming I regain feeling in my feet I'll see you at the Abbey on Thursday, maybe even with photos. I don't quite trust the Well after last time I was there (nasty hangover + turbulence = pale stricken flyer). Bar the thunderstorms, flooding, washed away roads gay flu's and the bivvy from hell Ailefroide was pretty stoked. However I must return to vanquish Les Agneaux. It's been thirteen years since I was last rained off a mountain. That poxy fecker's going down! Trish, glad to hear you all got home safely. Hope you didn't lose too much at the races! Oh, and happy belated birthday to Anne-Marie, if she can read this. Anyway, time to retire to my lovely warm bed (oh what joy) free of pine needles roots and excess water. See y'all Thursday.
I'm Diarmaid's brother, and I was wondering if anyone has any news of how the Alpine expedition is going. I got a text message saying "WE JUST CLIMBED MONTE ROSA AND ARE OFF TO CHAM", but that is all I know. I am worried as none of the following words were used in the message: stoked, bodacious, extreme, radical. Not even a dude, so I'm guessing that they all must be pretty depressed.
Hi folks - How have all the NACC'ers been? I might join ye for a day in the Galtees if I can - I'll be in touch with JK about it. Sean, I met Diarmuid in Saas Grund, Switzerland, on the 22nd and they (Diarmuid, Meredith, TomTom and Colm) stayed in the same campsite as us (Tony, John, Aidan and I) for at least a week - I left on the 28th and they were still there. They'ed climbed the Weissmies (4023m) and the Alallinhorn (40..m) and were planning more. If they climbed Monta Rosa, they must have moved west into the Matte valley as planned and will probably move to Chamonix soon - don't worry about the lack of Diarmuid-like phrases in the message - it's probably a combination of the altitude and the Sun-In hair colour and will pass with time - enjoy the calm for a while anyway! Daryl, I have a 75cm club axe for you and will bring it/get it to Cork if I can - leave it with me!
I'm not convinced by the last few entries here from the so-called Cham. As you know, Meredith is (for a few more weeks) the captain of the Dublin University Boat Club, and we all know what they get up to(Mars bars spring to mind). It's obvious from the tone of Rory's entry above that something horrible has happened, probably involving steroids and strokes and the dreaded "cox". This is what happens when you let rowers like Meredith join up, what I most feared. Expect to see them all in the gym doing bicep curls while watching themselves in the mirror when they get back.
