The 2006/07 season has been a fantastic one for the club. Just look back at the events page - we did an awful lot, and thanks go out to all involved, especially the committee for organising it all. We held some climbing lectures, a Table Quiz, we went to Dingle and had another epic weekend (and scared a lot of freshers), we went on a Mountain Skills training weekend which was fantastic, the club was involved in the Cork leg of the Banff film festival, and we went to Wales in April. Our Vice-Captain Orla won a Bene Merenti at the clubs and socs ball! The icing on the cake, however, was our most memorable weekend away in Dingle in March, to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the club.

Visit the Message Board for lively discussion & news of upcoming events. There are photos of what club members have been up to during the summer on the Pictures page, and some new Movies too. There is a list of the year's planned hikes available here. On that page you'll also see write-ups of the hikes completed already this year. If you've been on a hike and want to add your own poetic touch, feel free to email in a write-up of your own.
Newcomers to the club may be interested in looking at the new Frequently Asked Questions (English) page, which will help you get acquainted with us. UCC's Climbing wall in the Mardyke Arena is back in action and UCC students have access to it any time they like (ask at the Mardyke reception for more details). The UCCMC's club times are from 8.30 - 10.30pm on Monday and Wednesday nights.
You don't need any special gear or previous experience, just come down with some light clothes and runners, and some of our more experienced members will show you how to get started! Of course we also encourage experienced climbers to come along, so if you have been climbing before you're more than welcome to join us in the Mardyke.
If you have any questions, would like to submit your latest and greatest shots of recent hikes, or just want to say 'hi' please send us an email at uccmountaineering@gmail.com. If you have a Google Calendar Account, you can click here to add the UCC Mountaineering Club's schedule to your calendar.
