What a year! The weather was brilliant right through the year (though we paid for that in 2000). The Fresher's Weekend in Dingle was a huge success, and the sing-song in Tom Long's has to go down in history as one of the best ever. Things continued well, with the night-nav in Lauragh and the trip to Wales, when Hugh and Julian went on a drinking marathon, and certain individuals from certain committees shocked all us innocents, especially Hugh, who at this point was sweating cider. The climbing was great, and while it was a bit challenging keeping Hugh away from naked flames on the way back to Cork, everyone had a great time.
The year ended on a high note with the Captain's weekend in Letterfrack, where The List was drawn up for the very first time. It was meant to have been eaten by Rory Sherlock, but rumour suggests that it's still floating around in Sunday's Well somewhere. Unfortunately at this point, disaster struck. Diarmo discovered surfing. And bleach. It wasn't pretty.
Unlike other years, people kept on hiking on their own through the Summer, and a group went out to the MCI Alpine Meet to really stretch themselves. Unfortunately what happened in Ailefroide has to stay in Ailefroide, all I can say is watch out for Tim Ryan, he'll creep up on you when you least expect it.
