I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the Universities, Colleges, Institute’s of Technology and Secondary schools to the University Championships and Schools Regatta 2010. This is the first time the University Championships have been held in Cork since 1989 and we look forward to building on the excellent work that the previous hosts Queens University, Belfast and Jonny Baird, previous Chair, Irish University Rowing Committee, have put into the event.
Given the fact that the event will be held in Cork I would like to extend a special welcome to schools who have previously not participated in this event. I hope that this year will see a greater number of schools from Munster, Leinster and Connaught coming down and the committee will be more than willing to answer any questions you may have on any aspect of the event.
I would like to extend a sincere thanks to the support of the regatta committee, club committee, University; most notably the staff at the Department of Sport and Recreation, sponsors and volunteers for all their hard work in making this event possible as we all know it is the people that make our sport what it is today and without them we would not be able to put on events such as what we have planned for you this April.
