The Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) plays an important role in developing a globally competitive knowledge economy in Ireland.

The OTT's role is to provide the necessary resources and services to bring research and commercial expertise together to address market needs whilst providing a return to the university to further advance its research mission.

The OTT was established in 2007 expanding upon the role played by the Industrial Liaison Office which operated in UCC for almost 25 years.  The OTT manages the commercial opportunities arising from the research activities of the university.  Successful licensing provides royalty income which is shared between UCC, the inventor’s department/centre as well as the inventor.
