College of Science, Engineering & Food ScienceThe College of Science, Engineering and Food Science (SEFS) has more than 3,000 undergraduate students and 1071 postgraduate students, including more than 550 PhD students. The staff in the College are closely linked with UCC’s world class research centres such as the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre, the Analytical and Biological Chemistry Research Facility, the Biosciences Institute, the Boole Centre for Research in Informatics, the Cork Constraint Computation Centre, the Environmental Research Institute, the Tyndall National Institute, and industry-focused research and training units such as the Power Electronics Research Laboratories, the BioTransfer Unit and the Food Industry Training Unit. The College also has a strong record of delivering on the commercialization of research which is channeled through the Office of Technology Transfer in UCC The College also has strong links with industry and commerce through pioneering strategies for technology transfer and commercialisation of research. The growth of high technology industry in the Cork region has been significantly encouraged by increased research investment in the College.
