Gene-nutrient interactions How effects of diet on bone are modulated by individual genetic variation |

EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENT:
New
information on physiological processes mediating the effects of specific
genotypes (vitamin D receptor, apolipoprotein E) on bone integrity. This
will address the following key questions:
whether the recently discovered increased susceptibility to
osteoporosis associated with particular genotypes is mediated through
processes which are diet related (e.g. high salt, protein, low vitamin
K), and whether dietary strategies can be developed to counter the
increased susceptibility to osteoporosis associated with particular
genotypes. |
