This project will provide scientific information, data and methodologies on the influence of diet on bone integrity which will reinforce the scientific base for the development at European level of nutrition strategies, policies and guidelines, Community action programes, as well as new food products, to reduce incidence of osteoporosis in Europe.

Specifically, it will provide new scientific information, data and methodologies on: 

High salt intake and bone health

Low vitamin K and bone

Gene-nutrient interactions - how effects of diet on bone are modulated by individual genetic variation

Novel method for investigating the role of diet in bone metabolism
