| There are a range of different commercial activities
that take place within the Bantry Bay coastal zone. Some of these have
provided livelihoods for the people who live here for thousands of years
(such as, agriculture and fisheries), and others have been developed relatively
recently (such as, aquaculture and tourism). Many of these activities
are closely linked to the environment of the coastal zone; either generating
production directly from the environment (as in fishing, agriculture,
aquaculture and quarrying) or by making use of scenic landscape of the
area (as in tourism). |
