BSc Nursing Established 2002
The School offers a four year BSc. Programme, options include general, psychiatric and intellectual disability nursing.
These programmes are run in conjunction with the H.S.E Southern Region, the Mercy University Hospital and the South Infirmary/Victoria University Hospital, Bon Secours Hospital and COPE Foundation.
Successful completion leads to registration as a nurse with An Bord Altranais as a General Nurse, Psychiatric
Nurse or Intellectual Disability Nurse.

BSc Nursing Studies Established 1995
This course consists of an Access Year and Degree Year, leads to a BSc Nursing Studies. The course runs over the academic year.
Candidates who hold the Diploma in Nursing or equivalent may apply for exemption (on application) from the Access Year.
Students on the programme are registered general, psychiatric or intellectual disability nurses.
Midwives, paediatric nurses and public health nurses also undertake this programme.
The Access Year is offered only where sufficient numbers apply for the programme.

Post Graduate Diploma in Midwifery Established 1998
This two year programme is available to registered general nurses with six months experience.
The programme leads to registration with An Bord Altranais as a Registered Midwife (RM) and is provided in partnership with H.S.E. Southern Region, College of Midwifery and the Unified Maternity Services.

Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health Nursing Established 1994
A one year course for registered nurses and registered midwives with a minimum of two years' practice experience.
The overall aim of this Post Graduate Diploma is to develop informed and skilled practitioners in public health nursing.
The programme is run in collaboration with community services and leads to registration as a Public Health Nurse with An Bord Altranais.

Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing - Critical CareEstablished 2000
A one year course leading to a Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing (Cardiac & Intensive Care or Accident & Emergency) is available to nurses working in these areas.
The programme is run in collaboration with a number of health care agencies.

Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing-Peri-operative Established 2001
This is a one year-course leading to a Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing (Peri-operative).
This course is open to registered general nurses with a minimum of two years post registration experience and at least twelve months experience in peri-operative nursing.
The programme is provided in collaboration with a number of health care agencies.

Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing- Gerontological Established 2001
This one year course is offered for nurses who are involved in care of the elderly.

Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing - Acute and Enduring Mental Health Problems (Mental Health Nursing) Established 2003
This one-year programme is available to Registered Psychiatric Nurses with a minimum of two years clinical experience.
The course is provided in collaboration with the HSE Southern Region

Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing- Neonatology Established 2004
This interdisciplinary one-year programme is available to Registered Nurses with a minimum of six months clinical experience in neonatology.
The course is provided in collaboration with the H.S.E. Southern Region.

This interdisciplinary programme is offered in conjunction with the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing - Multiple and Complex Disabilities (intellectual Disability) Established 2005
This one-year programme is available to Nurses Registered in Intellectual Disability Nurses with a minimum of two years clinical experience.
The course is provided in collaboration with the HSE Southern Region

This course is offered with two pathways over two years - clinical practice and nursing education.
On successful completion of the later strand students will be entitled to apply for registration with
An Bord Altranais for entry to the tutors' division of the professional registrar.

Students, who successfully complete;
- BSc Nursing (General, Psychiatric, Mental Handicap)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Midwifery
- Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health Nursing MSc.
- Nursing Studies (Education)
are eligible for professional registration with An Bord Altranais. Details are available from Programme Co-ordinators.
Registered nurses and midwives may also apply to An Bord Altranais to have approved pre-registration and post-registration qualifications and relevant academic awards recorded in the Register.
