Hi everyone. I'm selling my Petzl Vasak Flexlock crampons for 100 euro. I bought them for 140 during the cold snap last year. They're unused and come with the original box, instructions and a petzl crampon bag. I'm selling them because they don't suit my new boots. If anyone wants to inspect them or check if their boots are compatible I can bring them down to the climbing wall next week.

Hi everyone I'm selling my Scarpa Force climbing shoes for 50 euro because they are too big for me. Their a size EU 45 (US 11.5) and they have only have been used 3 times so there is only superficial wear on the sole. If anyone wants to try them on let me know.

Beauty (also called prettiness, loveliness or comeliness) is a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction.
The experience of "beauty" often involves the interpretation convection microwave of some entity as being in balance and harmony with nature, which may lead to feelings of attraction and emotional well-being.[citation needed] Because this is a subjective experience, it is often said that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."[2]
There is evidence that perceptions of beauty are evolutionarily determined, that things, aspects of people and landscapes considered beautiful are typically found in situations likely to give enhanced survival of the perceiving human's genes.[3][4]
From: wayne green Posted on: Sun Feb 19 14:52:31 2012
kalos. The Koine Greek word for beautiful was ὡραῖος, hōraios,[5] an adjective etymologically coming from the word ὥρα, hōra, meaning "hour". In Koine Greek, beauty was thus associated with "being of one's hour".[6] Thus, a ripe fruit (of its time) was considered beautiful, whereas a young woman trying to appear older or an older woman trying blu ray player reviews to appear younger would not be considered beautiful. In Attic Greek, hōraios had many meanings, including "youthful" and "ripe old age".[6]

Although style and fashion vary widely, cross-cultural research has found a variety of commonalities dog gates indoor in people's perception of beauty. The earliest Western theory of beauty can be found in the works of early Greek philosophers from the pre-Socratic period, such as Pythagoras. The Pythagorean school best range hoods saw a strong connection between mathematics and beauty. In particular, they noted that objects proportioned buy mattress according to the golden ratio seemed more attractive.[9] Ancient Greek architecture is based on this view of symmetry and proportion.

Any one still look at this board?? Would be a pity if not! Anyway, what do people with a bit of experience think is the best way to tackle the reeks ridge, starting at the Hydro road or at Kates? My preference would be to start it at Kates, that way for most of the day you are walking toward the physical high point of Carrauntohil, plus I think the scrambling along the big gun works better in this direction than in reverse. The only disadvantage is that it's a bit nicer to finish at Kates than the side of the road in Glencar. Has teh club ever done it in this direction? Would it be worth checking out this year?
From: Ruari Posted on: Wed Mar 14 19:24:29 2012
Yo Dennis as far as I'm aware the general concensus is that kate's to hydro is the better way generally reasoning I think is that the Cummeenapeasta Ridge ridge is easier going that way along. As far as downsides the hydro road is a horrible place to finish a hike with a dreadful descent. The main issue for us as I would see it would be that if you have groups split off or faster or slower u have them waiting in a bus rather then a lovely comfortable setting. Another alternative would be to finish across Beenkeeragh and then descend to Lislebane. Which would mean less of a shuttle if people were to come off early and be dropped into Kate's. This would be made easier again by getting buses that could get all the way up to Lislebane car park. So basically you have the choice of either better route or easier transport management. Personally I'd go with the traditional route always suited us fine and I've never really found that much easier going the other way.
From: Ruari Posted on: Wed Mar 14 19:26:40 2012
Oh and there's a good chance I'll come down and tell ye how wrong you're doing things this weekend also(like all the time wrong not just about this weekend...)
From: Gerard Posted on: Thu Mar 15 20:27:53 2012
Personally I think it more natural to walk to rather than from the pub. I agree that the scrambling is easier walking from kate's west but that's counterbalanced by the fact that if you walk east its a long slow but easy 2 hour walk from cruach mhor to the pub. If you go west you have to climb the highest peak in Ireland towards the end.
A lot depends on the group as well - if the walk is likely to be cut short (as occasionally happens) what will they want more: If a lot of folk are new to the club this term they will be keen to climb carrauntuohil for the first time; if they have done that they may prefer to explore the unspoiled delights of the eastern reeks.
Anyway, whatever you do, most people wil be prepared to enjoy themselves. I'd imagine the driver will be voting for a finish in kates!
AGM is on Wednesday the 21st March in West Wing 9 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm, come one come all and see what a great year we have had and give us your feedback! Heading to the Fran Well for a shindig afterwards, see you all there

Hey,
I was just wondering there if anyone took/noticed a black plastic bag out of the boot of the bus after the hike on Monday? I rang PJs and they searched the bus but it wasn't there...there were boots and gaiters and some other stuff in it. Hopefully someone took it out?

Hey all, there are three of us, Anna, Ellen and myself, looking to do ML training over the summer, and we are looking for a 4th person to make up the numbers and bring the cost down. Is there anyone out there who has done the Mountain Skills Assessment and would be interested in doing ML? The club would be able to subsidise it a certain amount so it's a great opportunity! We are looking at weekends in May and June, with a 3 day weekend based in Kerry and a 2 day overnight on the hills weekend in connemara.
