I am a lecturer in the Department of Microbiology of University College Cork, Ireland. My research interests are bioinformatics/computational biology and molecular evolution. I am currently working on: neural evolution; tandem repeat variation in human and the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans; identification of orthologues and paralogues; and development of gene prediction algorithms. My research is funded by Science Foundation Ireland. LATEST NEWS!I recently wrote a short book, A Little Book of R for Biomedical Statistics, on using the statistics software R to carry out biomedical statistical analyses I also wrote two other short books, A Little Book of R for Time Series, and A Little Book of R for Multivariate Analysis. I am currently interested in hearing from people who are interested in doing PhD or postdoctoral research in my group (contact me at a.coghlan@ucc.ie). |
