UCC College Calendar gives the official description of each module.

Teaching hospital maps thanks to Google Maps.

Everyone starts to freak out in final year when they realise the class of their degree (1st Class Honours, Honours, or Pass) is determined mostly by their results in the final exams. The rather archaic rules governing what is written on the parchment can be found in the UCC Marks and Standards. One may appreciate an attempt to simplify understanding the rules.

Importantly, the M&S would suggest that the GEMs do not have the strange Mode A/Mode B system applying to them as it isn't written in the GEM Year 4 section. However, this is likely an error of omission and they should expect to be awarded no differently to the Direct Entries.

Tips on how to do your Final Med Project
General practice CP5200. 4 weeks - Will be posted to one of four primary care centres (Glanmire Medical Centre, Living Health in Mitchelstown, Cathedral Road in Cork, or Mallow).
Accommodation is provided for those in Mitchelstown who want it with a E20 fee for the four weeks.
"Tutorials" 3 weeks shadowing (nurses, OTs, SLTs, etc)
1 week intern shadowing (lucky them). Takes place in CUH during 3rd week of rotation. This is an excellent opportunity to do clinical skills.
Clinical skills tutorials - Mondays of the 1st, 2nd, 4th weeks.
Lots of tutorials including radiology, medicine, anaesthetics, and professionalism with Dr. O'Rourke which are a lot of fun.
Geriatrics CP5200. 2 weeks - will take place in CUH, MUH, or STGH in Clonmel.
Accommodation is provided for those in Clonmel but it's a good idea to bring a bicycle with you because it's about a 30 minute walk to the hospital.
The other 2 weeks of this month long rotation are for "self directed study."
