You may be surprised that you can probably get away with buying only a handful of books throughout your whole med school career. Doesn't mean you don't have to do the reading, however. Rather, there are is a huge amount of free stuff on the internet. The best resources are from other medical schools' websites.

MedStud Book Reviews: Many dislike the approach to recommended texts that the school takes, for example, "these are all good books so any will do." If you want something a little more solid than that on which to base your expenditure of several hundred Euro, then please read the Book Reviews.  The old MedStud content is included for historical interest as some of the older texts are still in use and perfectly good.  Remember that a lot of "essential texts" are not really that essential and free web-based resources are entirely sufficient if not superior.

UT Microbiology Microbiology A full textbook.
Epocrates Drug Lookup Pharmacology The standard online and PDA reference.  Drugs are recorded with North American names.
BNF Pharmacology The British National Formulary - the reference for drugs this side of the Atlantic.
