The Maths/Physics Ball

What is The Maths/Physics Ball?

The Maths/Physics Ball is by far the biggest social event in the mathsoc calendar. Similar in style to a grads or debs held after secondary school, it is a formal held for students studying maths and/or physics from all years. Additionally the staff from both departments are also invited to attend the event. With sold-out attendance over the previous few years, the night has always turned out to be both an enjoyable and memorable* one. That must be why it has become known as "The Best Ball on Campus".

* Memorable for some only by the photos!!

Great! What's the Dress Code?

Generally speaking, this ball is a formal event. That means a tux/suit deal for the guys and some sort of dress for the girls. However the code has never been that strict and if you came in a shirt and tie, you certainly would not be the only one. By that I mean the guys, but sure the girls can give it a try too. Remember, the Maths/Physics Ball only happens once a year. You might as well dress up.

Entertainment

Over the years, the Maths/Physics Ball has had a good variety of live entertainment. Just like other formals this involves two separate gigs but unlike others these have not always just been a band and a dj. We have had ceile's, karaoke sessions, swing dj's as well as bands and normal dj's. Whatever this year holds; expect to be entertained.
