Dr John Mee of UCC Law Faculty writes:
To update you on developments in the provision of free
access to basic
legal materials via BAILII (www.bailii.org)
and the related IRLII site
(www.irlii.org):
(i) Law Reform Commission Reports and Papers 1976-
Thanks to the kind co-operation of the LRC, BAILII now
has the complete set
of LRC Reports, Consultation Papers and Working Papers going
back to the
creation of the LRC (the earliest material is from 1976).
See
www.bailii.org/ie/other/IELRC/
(ii) Supreme Court Cases
The electronic feed of Supreme Court cases from the Courts
Service has
been fully established for some time now. For latest cases,
see www.ucc.ie/law/irlii/newcases.htm
BAILII now has (in addition to many
older cases) all Sup Ct cases distributed by the Court
Services since the
start of 2001. (It occasionally happens that a case which
appears in the
IR or the ILRM was never circulated by the Court Services;
we are
currently working to add such cases to BAILII as part of a
plan to create
a complete collection of all Sup Ct cases from 2000
onwards.)
(iii) High Court Cases
The feed of High Court cases comes at less frequent
intervals but is
ongoing. For example, 56 new High Court cases were added on
December 31st
and a further 26 were added on February 10th 2003. Again,
for latest cases
see www.ucc.ie/law/irlii/newcases.htm
(iv) Competition Authority
This database has been brought fully up to date. Latest
decision Feb 18
2003. See www.bailii.org/ie/cases/IECA/
(v) Recent Statutes
Irish statutes from 1922 to 2002 (up to Number 24 of
2002) are on BAILII
at www.bailii.org/ie/legis/num_act/
A full collection of recent Irish statutes, inclding two
from 2003, in html form with hyperlinks to each section is
at www.statutes.irlii.org
