Professor Desmond Clarke, Philosophy,
for three months (2001) and twelve months (2002) to complete projects on
Descartes and Pascal using the resources of the British Library, the University
of Cambridge Library and the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris. Mary
Donnelly, Law, for twelve months to complete PhD thesis Making Decisions
for Mentally Incompetent Adults and develop this work into a book. This time
will be spent at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
Professor Dermot Keogh, History, for twelve months to complete
research and writing of bibliographies on Archbishop McQuaid and Jack
Lynch. Professor John McInerney, Physics, for twelve months, to
spend time at the University of Arizona and Stanford University, and to learn
new research techniques and find sources of quantum dot materials and devices
at the University of New Mexico, the Technical University of Berlin and
elsewhere. Dr John Mee, Law, for twelve months to complete a
monograph on The Law of Family Property in Ireland and a number of articles on
the Law of Equity. Some time will be spent at the University of New South
Wales, Sydney, to study the operation of the Australasian Legal Information
Institute. Mr Michael Monk, Archaeology, for three months to carry
out final editing on a book entitled Agriculture in Early Ireland and to spend
time working with colleagues in the University of Bournemouth, UK on the
preparation of a monograph on the Environmental Archaeology from Novgorod,
Russia. Dr Christopher Morris, Music, for three months to work on a
publication on the role of nature and the irrational in Austro-German music and
culture of the early twentieth century. Research will be undertaken in
libraries in Oxford, Washington and Vienna. Professor Donnchadh Ó
Corráin, History, for twelve months to complete two books on
medieval Irish genealogies and the preparation of a book of papers entitled,
Early Medieval Irish Law: Explorations. Research will take place principally in
Dublin and Oxford. Dr Mervyn Ó Drisceoil, History, for three
months to conduct research in archives in Europe and North America and to
complete the manuscript of a monograph entitled Nuclear Issues and European
Integration. Dr Yolanda Plumley, Music, for three and a half months
to complete research projects currently in progress, including a major study of
a late medieval music manuscript and to continue work on a book on
intertextuality in late medieval song. This research will be carried out in
libraries in England and France. Dr Murray Porteous, Applied
Psychology, for twelve months to research and gather material for a second
edition of the textbook Occupational Psychology and to commence work on
two further texts. The time will be spent at the University of Glasgow and the
University of San Diego. Professor Keith Sidwell, Ancient Classics,
for three months to complete a major study of Greek Old Comedy. Research will
involve visits to libraries in the UK and consultations with colleagues in the
USA. |
